190: "Mommy Is Horny" - Air Bud 2: Golden Receiver

 There's nothing in the rule book that says we can't watch Air Bud: Golden Receiver.  The second film in the Air Bud series features SNL alum Nora Dunn as a the evil owner of a Russian circus that wants the basketball playing pooch all to herself.  There's also a football coach who is constantly eating a sandwich, a kid who doesn't like the guy his mom is dating and, oh yeah, a dog that plays football, but that last thing doesn't really factor into the plot of the film.  Join us for one of the cheapest theatrically released films we've ever seen and stay tuned next week for an even dumber episode because that's just how this show works.  Enjoy!

189: "Wait A Minute, I Hate God" - Altar Egos (2017)

 

Victoria Jackson is our SNL alum this week and she starred in the 2017 film Altar Egos. This is a Christian movie with a decent message, basically be kind to others and judge not that ye be judged, but it also features some of the most horrendous makeup ever put on film.  A young pastor wants to hip up his church but he comes to odds with the stodgy, old choir director who is set in her ways.  She'll never listen to him...unless...he disguises himself as an old man to get into her good graces.  This is a pretty stupid plan but what if he brings his son along with him also disguised as an old man for no reason?  Will Victoria Jackson want to make love to this young man in a gray wig?  You betcha.  Hijinks ensue, leading to a climax at a Benihana where the young priest disguised as an old man pretends to be a Japanese chef, for some reason.  We talk about all this plus the value of story lines in pornos and be careful or you just may learn how to wobble.  Enjoy!

188: "2 + 2 = Toilet?" - Moving (1988)

It's Randy Quaid week and we watched Moving from 1988 starring Richard Pryor and King Kong Bundy.  Also featuring SNL alum Dana Carvey, this movie is about Arlo Pear getting a job in Idaho and having to move his family cross country.  Wacky complications ensue.  Ben feels the movie is too scattershot while George found it to be a light and absurdly funny comedy.  You got Rodney Dangerfield gambling away a bank's money, Dana Carvey with multiple personalities, karate chopping on a moving truck.  We talk about all this plus the purpose of butt plugs and the different offensive levels of blackface on this week's Saturday Night Jive.  Enjoy!

187: "Who Ordered The Big Wet Butts?" - Second Act (2018)

 

In the great pantheon of movies featuring SNL cast members, we would be derelict in our responsibilities if we didn't cover Second Act starring Jennifer Lopez as a 40 year old woman who lies on her resume to get a job as a consultant for a cosmetics company and meets the daughter she gave up for adoption.  It features an award worthy performance from the one and only Ellen Cleghorne as Sheniqua, the woman who works at Valu-Mart who can be seen in one scene and speaks two words of dialogue.  We've watched movies for dumber reasons and this is one of the dumber movies we've seen.  Nothing makes sense, nobody acts like a real human being, plot twists fly at the screen with wild abandon and nothing seems to matter.  J. Lo crashes two boats on a corporate retreat because she pretended to be captain of her rowing team and the president looks at it like it's a fun thing.  She pretends to speak Mandarin at a business meeting but ends up talking about a dog's anal glands and the Mandarin man she's speaking to thinks it's the funniest thing.  All this plus a Salt N Pepa dance sequence and a plant that survived Hiroshima on this week's Saturday Night Jive.  Enjoy!

186: "Welcome To Kmart, I'm Usher" - Killers (2010)

It's Rob Riggle week on Saturday Night Jive and we're talking the 2010 action/comedy Killers starring Ashton Kutcher and Katharine Heigl with a bonus SNL alum Casey Wilson.  This movie had the potential to be amazing but they cast two people with absolutely no chemistry, filled the movie with inane dialogue and scored action scenes with the soundtrack to Mrs. Doubtfire.  Maybe it didn't have that much potential, but the premise of the movie is interesting.  Do K-Marts still exist?  Why is Usher in this movie?  These questions plus a Norm MacDonald cameo on this week's Saturday Night Jive.  Enjoy!

185: "Give Me Back-a My Paint Cans!" - A Night At The Roxbury (1998)

 

This week on Saturday Night Jive we're talking about an actual SNL movie.   A Night At The Roxbury tells the story of Steve and Doug Butabi, two characters who not only barely talked in their sketches but didn't have names.  How do you turn that into a movie?  You throw in an unbilled performance from Chazz Palminteri and let him do whatever he wants, apparently.  We'll get into it as we watch a movie with SNL alums Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Molly Shannon, Mark McKinney and, of course, Colin Quinn.  Enjoy!

184: "Feelin' The Mitts" - Senseless (1998)

This week on Saturday Night Jive we're talking David Spade who plays a 40 year college senior in Senseless.  This is a terrible film starring Marlon Wayans as another person who looks too old to be in college who takes part in an experimental drug trial that heightens his senses.  Things are going great for the kid until he ups the dosage (for no discernible reason) and starts to lose his senses.  So many things wrong with this movie, the least of which is its possible racist undertones and the weirdest Sherman Hemsley cameo ever.  Enjoy!
