233: "Matt Lauer Provides The Chuckles" - Land Of The Lost (2009)

This week we're talking Will Ferrell and his 2009 bomb Land Of The Lost.  Once again we are watching a movie based on a TV show that nobody cared about in the first place.  Who is this for?  Were fans of the show clamoring for Danny McBride?  Was the coveted 18-49 year old demographic excited for a movie based on a show they don't know existed?  How much dinosaur pee can Will Ferrell pour on himself?  A pretty short episode this week as we struggle to find something interesting to say about such a nothing of a movie.  All this and another instance of Subway backing the wrong horse when it comes to movie tie-in promotions on this week's Saturday Night Jive.

232: "I Like Pizza, F**k Andie MacDowell" - Multiplicity (1996)

This week on Saturday Night Jive we watched Multiplicity from 1996 starring Michael Keaton as a man who clones himself so he can have more time in the day.  Why, you ask?  Because SNL alum Robin Duke has 3 lines.  Also featuring Brian Doyle-Murray this movie raises a lot of questions that we didn't have in 1996.  Like, why are these clones seemingly fine with the fact that they are basically slaves?  Why is one of the clones gay?  How problematic is one of those clones over 20 years later?  And just how much is Michael Keaton coughing up for these human copies?  These and more questions are answered on this week's episode.  Enjoy!

231: "The Leftest Of Left Fields" - Father Of The Year (2018)

Apologies to the Siobhan Fallon fans who were anxiously awaiting a podcast devoted specifically to the Pauley Shore move Jury Duty but we couldn't find that for free on the internet and you can go to Hell if you think I'm paying for that shit.  So we called an audible and watched some crappy Happy Madison film on Netflix.  Father Of The Year debuted on the streaming service in 2018 and stars SNL alum David Spade and features cameos from Kevin Nealon and, of course, Melanie Hutsell.  This movie refuses to have a cohesive story line, instead we get episodic scenes of wife carrying competitions, men with boobs, and old men tripping on Molly.  It's not a good movie but you can listen to us talk about it.  We watched it so we might as well have something to prove it.

230: "Who Likes Frank Caliendo?" - The Comebacks (2007)

What a difference over 200 crappy movies makes.  Back in 2007, George watched The Comebacks starring SNL alums David Koechner and Finesse Mitchell and directed by the guy who gave us Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star.  It was so terrible he broke the DVD he burned it on so it would never be played again.  Flash forward to 2020 and The Comebacks is one of the best movies we've seen for this podcast.  Unfairly lumped in with the spoof movies from Friedberg and Seltzer, this is a funny movie with good jokes and an actual story you can follow from beginning to end.  There are a few visual sight gags that are just references to other movies of the time, but for the most part the movie will turn a reference into an actual character or storyline.  Listen to George and Ben talk about their new favorite movie.  Then again, this could all be some kind of insanity.  Remember, this is the podcast that is pro Jack And Jill and Holmes And Watson.
