Oh boy, we found another Garry Marshall classic. Dear God is a mess of a film where nothing makes sense. Greg Kinnear is the sweetest conman you'll ever meet who gets sentenced by a judge to get a 9-5 job. You know, that common sentence criminals get. He finds work in the dead letter office of the USPS and ends up answering undelivered letters to God. This movie does not know how the post office works as Greg gets in trouble for opening people's mail, even though that is what the dead letter office does. It also establishes that all of this mail can not be delivered or returned because of the lack of addresses, yet Greg and his buddies seem to find all the God writers fairly easily. It also establishes that people just pray to God through the mail, for things like wanting to ride a pony or a clean house or a dog or a babysitter or, in one case, a suicide note. Who writes a letter to God, puts a stamp on it, takes it to a mailbox but doesn't leave a return address? I guess you're thinking, "Oh God knows where I live" but then that also means you believe that the post office has routes that go to heaven!?!? Sorry, I'm rambling. This movie sucks, listen to us talk about it. Enjoy!

176: 'Dan Aykroyd's Big Fat Alien Ass' - Coneheads (1993)
This week we are finally talking Coneheads from 1993 featuring SNL alum Jan Hooks but also Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Chris Farley, Laraine Newman, Tom Davis, Tim Meadows, Michael McKean, David Spade, Julia Sweeney, Kevin Nealon, Jon Lovitz, Garrett Morris, Adam Sandler and Peter Aykroyd. The It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of SNL movies also has cameos from Sinbad, Eddie Griffen, Tom Arnold, Drew Carey, Michael Richards, Dave Thomas, Ellen DeGeneres and Jason Alexander. This is a big old mess of a film that forgets when it's trying to be funny. We talk about the film, the mechanics of alien butts, Lorne Michaels and women, the Coneheads media onslaught, Subway and their failed movie tie-ins and much much more. 175: "Scalpel, Forceps, Frying Pan" - Clean Slate (1994)
This week we're talking Clean Slate, an early starring vehicle for SNL star Dana Carvey. This movie is an interesting mess. It has a charm and easy going tone but the plot completely falls apart if you think about it for 5 seconds. Dana is a private eye with amnesia who wakes up every morning with no memories of who he is. He has a case to solve, a valuable coin to find, a woman to romance. Luckily the amnesia doesn't affect the part of the brain that remembers where poo goes. All this and a fake dog head on this week's episode of Saturday Night Jive. Enjoy!

174: "His Face Is Off His Face" - Son Of The Mask (2005)
This week on Saturday Night Jive we're talking about one of the most reviled movies of all time Son Of The Mask
starring Jamie Kennedy, Alan Cumming, Bob Hoskins, Traylor Howard, a
terrifying CGI baby and dog and most importantly, SNL alum Jerry Minor.
Is Ben Stein the worst actor of all time? Can he even qualify as an
actor? Do all celebrities hold elaborate Eyes Wide Shut parties? Why
do Gods want to have sex with out human women? What are the legal
ramifications of cartoon violence? How easy would it be to kill baby
Hitler? These questions and more on this week's episode. Enjoy!

173: "El Kabong Logic" - I Feel Pretty (2018)
This week on Saturday Night Jive it's our end of the year spectacular. We're highlighting one of the worst of 2018, I Feel Pretty starring Amy Schumer and featuring two SNL alums in Aidy Bryant and Shasheer Zamata. This movie is incredibly nonsensical as Amy gets a head injury and wakes up thinking she looks like a supermodel. Luckily for her, nobody questions her alternate reality or treats her any different at all. The trailer for this film sparked some controversy as people felt the film (that they hadn't seen yet) was promoting fat shaming but the problem with the film is that it doesn't. Certain jokes rely on Amy Schumer being fat and gross (which, for the record, she isn't) but most of the jokes are about how oblivious she is. The movie is constantly fighting against itself regarding its own political correctness. Also there's a subplot that hinges on a dating website designed for groups of 3. Enjoy!

172: "Before We Get Into Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" - Fletch Lives (1989)
You didn't think it could get more racist, did you? Well this week on Saturday Night Jive the Chevy Chase conversation continues as we tackle Fletch Lives. This sequel to Chevy's favorite film is at the same time better and worse than the first one. It's worse because it's arguably not a well made film but it's better for the same reason and the accidental (or purposeful) racism. Here's a taste, Fletch has a fantasy about dancing with his slaves on his plantation. Enjoy!

171: "Here's Another Thing About Microfiche" - Fletch (1985)
This week on Saturday Night Jive we are talking about Chevy Chase's personal favorite film. It's Fletch from 1985 starring Chase as a bumbling newspaper reporter who acts like a detective. When his boss asks him to write a story about drugs on the beach, Fletch is like "No way, man. I'm gonna write a story about something else and you're gonna pay for all my plane fare". This movie is fairly mediocore, not bad, not good but definitely not a classic like some may see it. Here us cover everything Fletch from his disguises to his inability to work a tape recorder to his possible sexual harassment of Geena Davis. Enjoy!
