195: "Move Over Emily Prager" - Pootie Tang (2001)/Shane Gillis

Sa da tay everyone, we pulled Laura Kightlinger's name out of the hat and that means we are talking about the film that made her a star.  Who could forget her turn as the anchorwoman in Pootie Tang.  Also featuring SNL alum Chris Rock and directed by Louis C.K., this movie is a big old mess of what the fuck.  A guy who speaks gibberish, a world that understands him completely, a comedy with no jokes.  When Bob Costas is the funniest actor in your movie, you gonna have problems.  Since this movie is an incoherent fever dream we spend most of the podcast talking about Shane Gillis the recently hired and more recently fired new cast member of SNL.  An intellectual discussion about racism commences, plus what was up with Gallagher?  Enjoy!

194: "Bigfoot With A Big Pair Of Hairy Tits" - Tales From The Crypt Presents Bordello Of Blood (1996)

This week's SNL alum was Dennis Miller so we watched one of his only leading man vehicles Tales From The Crypt Presents Bordello Of Blood.  The making of this film is more interesting than the actual movie as Dennis was paid a million dollars to star in this, money the producers took out of the special effects budget, he ad-libbed the majority of his dialogue and would routinely not show up on set or walk off abruptly.  We are split on this one.  Ben did not like Dennis's performance while George thought it was just the right kind of awful.  We talk about the easy life of a sexy ghoul, pitch a sexy Bigfoot movie, imagine Dennis Miller as Pennywise, rate the boobies in the film, and a slew of other stuff in this week's Saturday Night Jive.  Enjoy!

193: "Boobs, Butts, Titties" - Plump Fiction (1997)

You know how we've said "This is the worst movie we've ever seen" about a lot of movies?  You know how we've also said "This is the worst movie ever and if we ever say it again, we are lying"?  Well, this is the worst movie we've ever seen and if we say that about another movie we are lying.  We watched Plump Fiction a parody of Quentin Tarantino movies and other films from 1994.  It stars Julie Brown, not the Downtown one, as a fat version of Mia Wallace, Paul Dinello as the John Travolta character, Tommy Davidson as Samuel L. Jackson (who is sometimes doing a Sammy Davis, Jr. impression for no reason), the coach from Air Bud 2, the voice of Bobby Hill, and Glenn Gulia.  More importantly it also features SNL alum Tim Kazurinsky as Priscilla, Queen Of The Dessert.  Get it?  Because dessert sounds like desert.  It's funny.  No, it's not.  It's painfully unfunny.  Please don't watch this film, but you can enjoy listening to us talk about it.

192: "Dicks All Day" - Like Mike (2002)

It's Fred Armisen week on Saturday Night Jive and that can mean only one thing.  We watched Like Mike from 2002 starring Lil' Bow Wow in his dramatic feature debut as a young orphan who finds magic shoes once owned by Michael Jordan, maybe, they never establish if the shoes are magic or if it was the wish he made on them or if it was the electricity running through them from the lightning storm.  Whatever the reason, he becomes good at basketball.  Fred Armisen appears as New Age Dad which is probably his greatest performance of all time.  Not since Holly Hunter in The Piano has an actor done so much with so little dialogue.  Enjoy!
